PROJECT OVERVIEW
EDI Global, in partnership with Mathematica, has undertaken the design of the impact evaluation on behalf of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group.
The evaluation aimed to assess the impact of the project supported by Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP). The project consisted of a financial contribution to the Grainpulse expansion program, which is the first fertilizer company located in Uganda. Through the expansion program Grainpulse intends to increase the reach of its fertilizer business to farmers, particularly among smallholders and women.
EDI Global and Mathematica conducted a scoping trip to inform the methodology, sampling strategy and questionnaire design. We were also responsible for the implementation fieldwork and evaluation activities as required by the inception plan for baseline data collection. After the completion of data collection and subsequent data cleaning activities, a technical report was developed and submitted to present the findings from the baseline study as well as recommendations for the subsequent data collection.
PROJECT UPDATE
After successfully conducting the scoping trip in late 2019, EDI Global and Mathematica have been working on the design of the impact evaluation and questionnaire.
The COVID-19 outbreak in Uganda, has hampered the efforts to collect secondary data to develop the sampling strategy and, thus, the team has had to revisit the methodology.
