Evaluation of the Sasso Hybrid Chicken Program – Baseline Data Collection

PROJECT OVERVIEW

EDI Global carried out baseline data-collection on behalf of IDinsight as part of the APMI the African Poultry Multiplication Initiative (APMI). The first phase of the project included conducting events and listing in the target communities. In the control communities, generic entrepreneurship material was delivered to communities by EDI Global. In treatment communities marketing material about Sasso chickens was delivered by IDinsight’s partner, Silverlands and a household survey was then carried out in all communities in the second phase of the project (70 control and 110 treatment communities). The events and subsequent household survey were carried out in 10 regions of Tanzania. The third phase of the project was a qualitative study involving 90 interviews with Brooder units belonging to partner AKM Glitters and small holder farmers in five regions in Tanzania.
